Here are my tried and true tips to make planning your budget travel trip in Europe affordable and feasible:

You can save some serious cash by flying into a neighboring country or city. When we first planned our family trip to Germany, we saved hundreds of dollars by flying into Paris. And bonus, we were able to experience two countries! If you’re planning to rent a car and love to explore other places, this is a great option. If, however, you’re relying on train trips and planes, it might not save you much money. Take some time and play around with the routes. 

And you should also check the prices for differing arrival and departure cities. This is a great way to save money, especially if you’re booking flights with points or airmiles. 

Book Budget Accommodations with Kitchens 

This is huge, friends. If you can cook breakfast and pack some lunches, you’ll save 30-50% on food costs. We’re not talking about giving up all the amazing local cuisine – we still typically eat out at least once a day! But making our own breakfast and grabbing groceries for a picnic lunch or dinner frees up money for those nicer meals and treats throughout the week. 

Even if you don’t have a kitchen available, find a hotel or hostel with breakfast included. And you can still grab a supermarket lunch each day to cut down on food expenses. 

Explore Different Ways to Travel Around Europe

Living in Fort Worth, Texas, we have one easy way to get around, and that’s by car. And when I say easy, I actually mean sitting in 10 minutes of traffic just to get out of your neighborhood. So naturally, one of my favorite things to do in other cities is take public transportation. Taking the bus or rail can save you a lot of money versus expensive taxis or other ride-sharing services.

If you’re traveling with a large family or group or are planning to travel through multiple cities or countries, you might consider renting a car. We’re planning to spend a week next summer traveling across Germany and down into Austria, and train tickets for five people would really break our budget. So, in our case, renting a car will be the more affordable way to go and give us the flexibility we need. Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan (Now Called Atmos Rewards)

Alaska Airlines took the number one spot for best airline rewards program again this year, and for good reason. What makes this program special for families is that you earn miles based on the distance you fly, not how much you spend on your ticket. This is HUGE if you’re booking basic economy to save money – you still earn the same miles as someone in first class. And starting in 2026, you’ll have the option to choose whether you want to earn points based on distance, price paid, or segments flown. This should appeal to both business and economy travelers!

The Atmos Rewards program offers some seriously useful perks once you reach elite status, including free upgrades, checked bags, and same-day flight changes. Plus, Alaska Airlines is part of the oneworld alliance, which means you can earn and redeem miles on partner airlines like American Airlines and British Airways. That flexibility is clutch when you’re trying to find four seats together on the same flight.

And as of October 2025, Hawaiian Airlines has joined the Atmos rewards family and will help you build up those Atmos loyalty points!

United MileagePlus

United jumped to the number two spot last year, and it’s an excellent choice if you live near a United hub. The airline has an absolutely massive route network – over 40 airline partners through the Star Alliance – which gives you tons of options for using your miles.

What I love about United for families: they launched a partnership with JetBlue in late 2025, which will make it even easier to earn and redeem miles on flights your family actually wants to take. Plus, you can use MileagePlus miles for hotel stays with major brands like Marriott, Hyatt, and others, giving you more flexibility in how you redeem.

American Airlines AAdvantage

American Airlines AAdvantage ranks third, and it’s a solid program with access to over 900 destinations through oneworld partners. The program offers loyalty point boosts that help you achieve elite status faster, which can make family travel so much more comfortable with perks like priority boarding and free checked bags.

One tip: if you fly American frequently, those free checked bags alone can save a family of four around $120-$240 per round trip. That adds up fast.

Southwest Rapid Rewards

Now, Southwest didn’t rank in the top three overall, but I have to mention them because they’re phenomenal for families. Southwest has no blackout dates – literally every seat on every flight is available to book with points. And they offer the famous Companion Pass, which lets one person fly free (just paying taxes and fees, usually around $5.60 each way) for up to two years.

For families, this is game-changing. Earn the Companion Pass, and suddenly you’re only paying for three tickets instead of four. Southwest also lets families with children under 6 board early, which makes getting seats together much easier.

Best Hotel Rewards Programs

Choice Privileges

Choice Privileges took the number one spot for hotel rewards programs in 2025, and honestly, I think it’s because they just get it. Choice Hotels operates over 7,400 properties ranging from budget-friendly Econo Lodge to upscale Cambria Hotels, and even includes Radisson properties now.

What makes Choice Privileges great for families is how quickly you can earn a free night. The earning structure is straightforward, and you can reach elite status after just 10 nights, which gets you perks like room upgrades, early check-in, and late checkout. 

Marriott Bonvoy

Marriott Bonvoy is the behemoth of hotel loyalty programs, and while it can be complex, it offers incredible value for families. With 30+ brands and thousands of properties worldwide, you’ve got options for every budget and travel style. It’s the first loyalty program we joined 15 years ago, and we have booked literally dozens of rooms on points.

Here’s what matters for larger families: many Marriott properties offer a 50% second-room discount when kids 16 and under occupy it. (Note: the discount is applied at arrival, not booking, so call the hotel ahead of time to verify they’ll honor it.) Also, when you book on points, the 5th night is always free. We’ve been able to extend many of our vacations by a day because of this perk!  In addition, once you have platinum status, you have access to the lounge, meaning free drinks, snacks, and breakfast during your stay. 

You can also earn Bonvoy points through a co-branded credit card and use those points for everything from budget hotels to luxury resorts. 

Hilton Honors

Hilton Honors covers over 7,000 properties across 22 brands in more than 170 countries. The program offers confirmed connecting rooms (huge for families who need to spread out), mobile check-in to skip lines with impatient kids, and the ability to pool points between family members.

Hilton’s family-friendly brands like Embassy Suites (all-suites, perfect for families) and their all-inclusive resorts in the Caribbean make this program especially valuable if you’re planning beach vacations. 

World of Hyatt

World of Hyatt consistently ranks in the top three hotel loyalty programs, and travelers love it for good reason. While Hyatt has fewer properties than Marriott or Hilton, the quality is generally excellent, and the program is incredibly generous with perks.

Hyatt offers some of the best value when you redeem points for hotel stays, and they’re a popular transfer partner for Chase Ultimate Rewards points. If you’re strategic about earning and redeeming, you can score luxury hotel stays at a fraction of the cash price!

How to Actually Maximize These Programs (Without Losing Your Mind)

Okay, so you know which programs are worth joining. Now let’s talk strategy, because just signing up isn’t enough – you need to use these programs intentionally to get real value.

Start with One Flexible Credit Card

The fastest way to rack up enough points for family travel is through credit card sign-up bonuses. Cards like the Chase Sapphire Preferred offer substantial welcome bonuses – often 75,000 points or more after you spend a certain amount in the first few months. (I was able to nab a 100k point bonus, so be on the lookout for promotions!)

Here’s why this matters: those 75,000 Chase Ultimate Rewards points could cover three nights at a great hotel in a major city, or multiple domestic round-trip flights. That’s not pocket change – that’s a family vacation. You can redeem them 1:1 at hotel and airline transfer partners or on the Chase Travel Portal. They also offer “point boosts” at certain times, so watch for any promotions to get even more bang for your buck.

Use your rewards credit card for everything you’re already buying: groceries, gas, bills, and back-to-school shopping. The points add up quickly, especially if you choose a card that offers bonus earning in categories where your family spends the most.

Focus Your Hotel and Airline Loyalty

Once you’ve got a solid credit card rewards program, pick one airline loyalty program and one hotel loyalty program to focus on. We started with the American Airlines AAdvantage program (we’re near the main hub in DFW) and the Marriott Bonvoy program. This is key – spreading yourself too thin across six different programs means you’ll never earn enough points in any single program to actually redeem for meaningful rewards.

Choose your airline based on which one has the most flights from your home airport. If you live near a Delta hub, Delta SkyMiles makes sense. Near American Airlines? Go with AAdvantage. The goal is to concentrate your earnings so you can actually reach elite status and unlock better perks.

For hotels, if you’re aiming for budget travel, I’d recommend starting with a program like Choice or Hyatt, where you’ll get more bang for your buck. While I love the Marriott program and am very invested in it after 15 years of travel, if I were to start all over, I’d definitely go with Choice or Hyatt. 

Take Advantage of Point Pooling

Several programs allow family members to pool points or miles, which is incredibly useful when you need enough points to book for multiple people. JetBlue and United both allow this for airlines. On the hotel side, Hilton makes pooling super easy with one-to-one transfer ratios.

If your family travels even semi-regularly, you might hit this naturally. And if you have certain travel credit cards, like the Marriott Bonvoy Brilliant American Express, they automatically provide you with elite status. 

The perks at even basic elite status levels can make a huge difference in family travel comfort: free checked bags (saving $30-$50 per bag, per person, each way), priority boarding, free upgrades when available, late checkout, and sometimes complimentary breakfast or lounge access. For a family of four taking just three trips a year, those free checked bags alone could save you $1000+ annually.

Book Strategically to Stretch Your Points Further

Not all redemptions are created equal. Sometimes using 50,000 points gets you a $400 hotel stay, while other times it only covers $200 worth of value. Learning to evaluate redemption values helps you maximize what you’ve earned.

Also, be flexible when possible. Traveling during off-peak times often requires fewer points for the same flights or hotel stays. You can often get great deals for “business” hotels on weekends when the demand is lower, while “tourist” hotels often offer lower rates on Sunday-Thursday evenings.

Award availability for families of four can sometimes be challenging during peak seasons, but if you can shift your travel to shoulder season, you’ll find better options and often need fewer points to book.

My Top Tips for Getting Started

If you’re new to this whole world, start simple:

Month One: Sign up for one travel rewards credit card with a good sign-up bonus. Make sure you can comfortably meet the minimum spending requirement. Enroll your entire family in your chosen airline loyalty program and sign one of the grownups up for a hotel loyalty program (or both if they offer family points poolings).

Month Two: Start using that credit card for all purchases you’d normally make anyway. Don’t change your spending habits just to earn points – that defeats the purpose. The goal is to earn rewards on spending you’re already doing. And be sure you pay that credit card off at the end of the month! If you’re accruing interest on that credit card, it totally defeats the purpose of budget rewards travel. 

Month Three: By now, you should have earned your sign-up bonus. Start researching how to redeem those points for your next family trip. If you need more points, see if they offer a referral bonus, and have your partner or spouse sign up and rake in some points, too!

Common Questions I Hear All the Time

“Do points expire?” Most programs require some activity every 12-18 months to keep points from expiring, but this is easy to avoid. Make one purchase with a co-branded credit card, book one flight, or stay one night at a hotel in that loyalty program, and your points stay active.

“Can my kids earn their own points?” Absolutely! Children can have their own frequent flyer accounts and hotel loyalty accounts from birth. They won’t earn points through credit cards until they’re 18, but any flights they take or hotel stays under their name can earn them points.

“What if I don’t have enough points for everyone?” You don’t have to book everything with points. We often use a hybrid approach – book three tickets with miles and pay cash for the other two, or use points for hotels and pay cash for flights. Even covering part of your trip with rewards significantly reduces out-of-pocket costs.

The secret sauce to successful neurodivergent family travel starts weeks before you leave home. I’ve learned that my daughter thrives when she knows what to expect, so to help prepare her, we create visual itineraries together using pictures from the internet. We include photos of hotel rooms, the airplane we’ll fly on, the airplane seating chart, photos of any other transportation we’ll be using, and the attractions we’ll visit. Social stories have been game-changers for us. When she was younger, I would create simple narratives about what our travel day would look like: “First, we’ll go through security, then we’ll get a snack, then we’ll wait at our gate, and then we’ll board the plane.” For kids with autism or anxiety, this predictability can mean the difference between a smooth departure and a meltdown before you even leave home.

Noise-canceling headphones and noise-reduction earplugs (my daughter prefers these CURVD earplugs over the Loop ones) are non-negotiable in our family—they’ve saved us from sensory overload countless times in airports, on planes, and in busy tourist areas. I recommend this JBL kids’ headphone version with volume limiters for hearing safety. And if you’re traveling with little bitty kids, these baby/toddler-sized headphones are lifesavers.

Weighted Blankets

Weighted lap pads are AMAZING for long flights, car rides, and sleeping in unfamiliar places. I even have one for my anxious, overwhelmed myself. They provide proprioceptive input that helps with self-regulation, and they’re much more portable than full-size weighted blankets. 

Fidgets and More

A compact sensory kit saved us countless times when she was younger. Ours included a fidget cube, silly putty, and a Pop-It. Everything fits in a ziplock bag for easy airport security screening. And on road trips, all my kids loved the Melissa & Doug reusable sticker pad books for lightweight entertainment that doesn’t require screens or sound.

Technology can be your best friend when used strategically. Download movies, games, audiobooks, and calming apps before you travel to help keep your child entertained during long travel days or delays. I always pack extra charging cables and a portable battery pack because nothing derails a careful plan like a dead tablet during a layover. Don’t rely on airplane WiFi or international data plans when your child needs their comfort content.

Medication

Don’t forget the practical stuff either. If your child takes medication, bring extra along, just to be safe. An unexpected overnight travel delay can happen, and you don’t want to find yourself without necessary medications. Also, ask your doctor about the possibility of prescribing “as-needed” medication that could help your child with increased anxiety during travel. 

Transportation Strategies for Traveling With A Neurodivergent Child

Flying with neurodivergent kids requires some advance planning. Most airlines offer accommodations if you request them ahead of time and have a note from your doctor—things like pre-boarding, aisle seats for kids who need to move around, or assistance navigating security. Maintaining routines while traveling is challenging but crucial. We try to keep meal times consistent to regulate her blood sugar and preserve bedtime rituals even in unfamiliar places. I always pack a white noise machine and a weighted lap blanket because new sleeping environments can be particularly difficult for neurodivergent kids.

Don’t underestimate the power of familiar foods. While trying local cuisine is part of travel’s joy, having backup snacks your child enjoys can prevent hunger-induced meltdowns. I always take her shopping pre-trip to pick out her favorite travel snacks. 

Daily Adventure Management

The key to successful daily adventures when traveling with a neurodivergent child is building flexibility into your plans. We have a non-negotiable scheduled downtime each afternoon between activities. No one is too old for naptime! And I always have a “Plan B” if our original idea becomes overwhelming. We don’t expect to do every activity together, and sometimes it’s best if my husband and I split up the kids and take them to do separate activities. Museums during school hours are usually less crowded than on weekends. Many attractions offer sensory-friendly hours or quiet spaces—research these options in advance.

Timing is everything. My daughter does best with morning activities when her energy and coping skills are fresh. By afternoon, we’re often back at our accommodation for rest time before going out for dinner and whatever we feel up to that evening. This might mean missing some sights, but that’s totally ok with us. It ensures the experiences we do have are positive ones.

Crowds can be the biggest challenge for many neurodivergent kids. We’ve learned to identify escape routes immediately upon arriving anywhere new. Knowing where the nearest bathroom, quiet space, or exit is located gives both my daughter and me peace of mind. Sometimes just knowing we can leave if needed is enough to help us stay.

Throw in some must-have items like wet wipes, hand sanitizer, and snacks – trust me, you’ll be the hero when someone gets hangry.

• Money-saving strategy: Stock breakfast items (think yogurt, boiled eggs, instant oatmeal), snacks (string cheese, carrot sticks, fruit), and drinks from a local grocery store. A family of four can easily save $20-30 daily on beverages alone!

8. Choose Rooms Away From Noise

When booking, specifically request rooms away from:

• Ice machines (constant motor noise and late-night ice-getters)
• Elevators (ding sounds and guest chatter)
• Housekeeping stations (early morning cart noise)
• Vending areas (late-night snackers)
• Pool/fitness center (early morning swimmers/workout enthusiasts)
• Ask for a room between the 3rd and 6th floors – high enough to avoid street noise but low enough for quick stair access if needed! I love those top floors but ever tried to make it down 12 flights of stairs with kids in tow during a fire alarm? Me neither, and I really don’t want to.

Bring either a Roku, Fire Stick, or Chromecast for TV entertainment options. You never know what kind of tv the room will have and if there are any streaming options available. I don’t know about you, but I don’t want to be stuck watching a Sponge Bob marathon on Cartoon Network.

• Bring an HDMI extension cord if you have one (sometimes hotel TV ports are hard to reach)

10. Bring a Power Strip

If you’re traveling with older kids and teens, pack a compact power strip with USB ports for charging multiple devices:

• Look for one with at least 3 outlets and 2-3 USB ports
• Position it on the desk or nightstand for easy access This prevents arguments over charging priority and makes sure all your devices are charged and ready for the next day.

Self-service laundry can be a trip-saver when you’re trying to pack light. Especially if you have messy kids! 

• Pack travel-size detergent pods or laundry sheets
• Bring quarters or check if machines take cards
• Ask about peak usage times to avoid crowds
• Pack a pop-up mesh laundry hamper 
• In a pinch, the hotel sink works great for small loads! And those magnetic hooks I mentioned earlier will help with hanging and drying wet clothes!

16. Ask About Baby Gear

Hotels often provide more than just cribs. A few items you may find at your hotel include:

• Playpens or full-size cribs

• Strollers (less likely but becoming more popular)
• Baby-proofing kits

• Collapsible silicone bowls
• Paper plates
• Reusable travel utensils or plastic ware
• Zip-top bags for sandwiches and snacks on-the-go
• Two-in-one compact can opener and bottle opener
• Paper towels
• Travel-sized dish soap

19. Bring a Roll of Painters Tape

No, we’re not redecorating the hotel rooms…the people on the internet have found tons of uses for painter’s tape that you might have not even thought of! 

• Use it for baby proofing:  cover outlets, tape drawers closed, tape up dangling cords, etc.
• Block out light: Put a strip of tape along the crack in the door and frame to block out light, tape curtains closed, cover annoying lights from clocks and electronics, etc
• Seal bags of chips and snacks
• Remove lint from clothing
• Use it to create games like hopscotch

Painter’s tape doesn’t leave sticky residue- that’s why it’s our tape of choice. Bring at least one roll on your next trip. 

20. Pack Door Stoppers

Stick a couple of these in your bag. Multiple uses for rubber door stoppers:

• Extra security for the main door

• Prop main door while moving luggage
• Keep bathroom door from slamming
• Improve air circulation

Create a portable entertainment kit for the kids to keep them entertained in the hotel room:

• Card games (Uno, Skip-Bo, regular playing cards)

• Magnetic games that won’t lose pieces

• No traffic or navigation stress
• Often near restaurants and shops

Pro Tip: Research the area’s transit passes for families – many offer multi-day discounts or free transit for children.

25. Bring Your Own Microfiber Towels 

Some hotels will charge you if the hotel room towels become stained. You can avoid this by bring a couple of microfiber towels from home that you can use for:

• Makeup removal
• Nosebleeds, cuts, etc.
• Messy spills
• Muddy shoes

Save the bath towels for bathing, so you’re not stuck paying exorbitant replacement fees. Stash one of these easy-to-pack travel microfibers instead. 

26. Pack Clothespins or Binder Clips

Stash a few clothespins or binder clips in your luggage for uses like:

• Closing the annoying gap in the drapes
• Closing open bags of snacks
• Hang multiple wet swimsuits on closet hangers

27. Pack Travel Sized Disinfectant Spray

Before your kiddos grab the remote, pull out that travel-sized Lysol or Clorox spray, and disinfect it. The same goes for any other surfaces or things in the room, that might not be regularly cleaned, like chairs, clock radios, drawer handles, etc.

Here are a few extra tips that can help stretch your hotel budget:

• Book refundable rates and check prices again closer to stay. This has saved me so much money! I’ll sometimes cancel and rebook 5-10 times before a stay, as the prices fluctuate so much.

• Stack credit card rewards with hotel points. (Note: A travel rewards credit card is only worth it if you pay it off each month!)

We all know winter clothing is bulky, but you can pack light with these compressible water-resistant ski pants that include their own travel bag. These will work for men or women and are just what you need to keep you dry during a day playing in the snow.

Instead of ski pants, you might opt for these ski bibs that provide full body protection. You won’t have any snow sliding down the back of your pants in these overall-style bibs. The shoulder straps are adjustable to your height, so they even work for tall girls like me. 

Fleece leggings

I don’t travel anywhere without a pair of leggings and these fleece leggings are at the top of my packing list for cold weather!  There’s warm socks and then there’s merino wool socks. These 70% merino wool socks are moisture-wicking and provide incredible warmth to keep your feet toasty and dry. Plus they’re uber cute and available in several colors and and prints.

If you don’t want to spring for a new pair of winter boots, add warmth to existing boots with these sheepskin fleece insoles. They’ll keep your feet warm and cozy, no matter what shoe you’re wearing. 

Knit polar fleece beanie

Lip ointment

If you prefer a protectant that is specific for lips and easy to apply, this is my all-time favorite. I have several tubes around my house and always keep one in my purse. It’s taken my daughter’s cracked and bleeding lips and healed them in a couple of days. Prevent those clingy winter clothes with a little bottle of static spray. You’ll be smelling fresh, too.

A germ killer that doesn’t suck all the moisture out of your hands? This is the one. The shea butter in this antibacterial gel will nourish your dry hands while killing 99.99% of germs. And with this 6-pack of travel-size bottles, there’s plenty for the whole family. 

Emergen-C

Hydration mix

If you find yourself in a winter emergency situation, having a mylar thermal blanket will help retain 90% of your body heat. Keep some in your car in case of travel during blizzard conditions, as well as a set in your house in case you find yourself without power for an extended time period. 

Thermal phone case

Help protect your phone battery for days out in the elements. These thermal pouches keep your phone warm and help extend the life of your battery. They’re also snowproof and water-resistant. 

Portable charger

Did you know that cold weather will drain your phone battery more rapidly? It’s true! Don’t get caught out with the dead phone. These are my favorite battery chargers: this fast charger can charge your phone 4-5 times before it needs to be recharged. 

Compression packing cubes

Winter gear is much bulkier than summer gear. To pack light for winter travel, you have to use compression packing cubes to make the most of your luggage space. This set will give you a  60% reduction when compressed! They’re a dream for stowing away those puffy vests, scarves, and sweaters. 

Waterproof bags

Waterproof bags aren’t just for summer travel. Keep your wet gloves, socks, and outwear from getting the rest of your luggage wet with these handy little waterproof bags. You can roll them up and toss them in a backpack or purse. If you have messy kids, they’re a must-have!

Quick-dry towels

These quick-dry microfiber travel towels are great for wiping down wet winter sports gear or cleaning up spills on the go. 

Collapsible shovel

Why Do I Need a Travel Budget Planner?

Maybe you’ve been traveling for years without a travel budget planner, and you wonder why start using one now? And if you’re staying on budget during your travels, then great! It sounds like you’re doing fine and you can skip on by. • Transportation (flights, rental cars, ride share, or train tickets)

• Daily expenses (meals, activities, and souvenirs)
• A small emergency fund (because life happens, even on vacation!)

Pro tip: Add about 15% to your initial estimate as a buffer. If you don’t end up needing it, great – you’ve got extra spending money or can set the extra money aside for your next trip!

Here’s a secret that successful savers know: automation is your best friend. Set up a new account you can designate as your “vacation fund” and arrange automatic transfers for every payday. Even small amounts add up – $50 per week becomes $2,600 in a year! Think of it as paying your future self first. This is a key step of your vacation savings plan!

 Having a separate account will make it easier to track and know exactly how much you need to save. • Offer babysitting on weekends or holidays. You can set up a babysitting profile at Care.com or advertise on a local mom’s Facebook group. 
• Schools are always in need of substitute teachers! If you have a flexible daytime schedule, this is a great way to give back to the community while earning some side cash.
• Donating plasma might sound painful but it comes with its benefits! Not only are you providing life-giving plasma for those in your community who desperately need it, but you can bring in a few extra hundred dollars a month! (Must pass a medical screening and meet certain qualifications as a donor.)

You’d be surprised what people will pay to borrow:

• That parking spot you’re not using
• The tools and equipment gathering dust in your garage. Not everyone wants to buy a jackhammer, trailer, or pressure washer. If you’ve got one, rent it out on Facebook Marketplace or on the Rent My Equipment app.
• An office you can lease out for weekend or evening appointments. 
• A car you don’t need all the time. Turo is surprisingly simple and safe for renting out your car
• Musical instruments stashed under your bed. Beginners often don’t want to pay for a brand-new one but would love to try out a quality instrument.
• Luxury pieces of clothing and accessories. Use Tulerie to lend out those gorgeous items just sitting in your closet. You’ll feel good about making a little money while justifying that pricey purchase in the first place.

Timing Is Everything

Being flexible with your travel dates can save hundreds on travel. For example, traveling to Europe in February instead of July could cut your costs by 30% or more. Plus, you’ll deal with fewer crowds and get a more authentic experience. 

Personal Note: I know this is tricky when you’ve got kids in school. You might feel tied down to the school calendar, but as a former teacher, I’m telling you to take the vacation if you can. Your child will learn so much more from the experience than from a week of sitting behind a desk.

While this is harder when your kids are in high school, most teachers I know are willing to work with your child if you communicate well and make a plan for getting schoolwork accomplished. What will your child remember when they’re an adult? That overseas vacation or that week of learning about aerobic respiration in Biology class?

Points and Miles Magic

Make your regular spending work harder for you:

• Use a travel rewards credit card for everyday purchases (but always pay it off monthly!) We rarely pay for hotels. Our Marriott credit cards have earned us countless free hotel stays and upgrades simply with everyday spending. I’ve also paid for 3 trips to Europe on points alone. If you’re already spending the money, you might as well make it work for you in the form of free travel!
• Join airline and hotel loyalty programs to earn status, and upgrades and accrue points toward free travel. 
• Shop through airline or hotel shopping portals for things you’re spending money on anyway. You’ll earn some airline miles or points on purchases made at restaurants and online retailers.
