Hill Country Resort
The JW Marriott San Antonio Hill Country is the perfect resort for a relaxing and fun Mother’s Day Getaway. This resort is ideal for couples, families, or a mother-daughter weekend getaway. From the sprawling waterpark to fabulous resort amenities and activities, to the luxury spa, to fine dining options at the award-winning restaurants, you’ll have the BEST Mother’s Day weekend.
They even have an adult-only pool and a private spa pool for spa guests, so that you can escape the kids and enjoy some real relaxation, if that’s your goal! If you’re looking for a lavish weekend away with endless options, you can never go wrong with a JW Marriott Resort, in my opinion.
Gaylord Texan Resort
Located in Grapevine, Texas, the Gaylord Texan Resort is another amazing resort for a Mother’s Day Getaway and perfect for a day trip. You’ll enjoy wandering through beautiful indoor garden atriums, dining at one of their delicious restaurants, cafes, or bars, shopping at one of the Texas boutiques, or enjoying luxurious European spa treatments at Relâche Spa.
The indoor and outdoor pools are open year-round. We love ordering food by the outdoor pool during sunny weather. Chips and queso and a margarita poolside while the kids splash around is my ideal way to spend a Mother’s Day afternoon!
If you’ve got the kids with you, Paradise Springs Waterpark opens for the first time of the year on Mother’s Day weekend, and entry and shuttle to the waterpark are included with your resort stay.
The resort offers rooms with atrium views and balconies, which is totally worth the upgrade, in my opinion. You’ll have an incredible view of the resort ,and it’s a great place to start your day or unwind at the end of the day and people watch.
San Antonio Riverwalk
If there’s one destination I never tire of, it’s the San Antonio Riverwalk. Book a hotel on the River Walk and enjoy one of my favorite spots in Texas. The iconic Riverwalk hosts luxury to budget-friendly options for accommodations, so you can hopefully find something that will work for your pocketbook!
If you are looking for a romantic, luxurious getaway, check out Omni’s Mokara Hotel. This lush hotel boasts two-person soaking tubs, elegant four-poster beds, nightly turn-down service, 24-hour room service, and free coffee and tea at any time. You can also enjoy the rooftop pool with views of the Riverwalk. It’s pricey but the perfect spot for an idyllic Mother’s Day Getaway.
If you’re looking for something nice yet budget-friendly on the Riverwalk, check out the Drury Plaza Hotel on the Riverwalk. You’ll enjoy amenities, such as free breakfast (hello, Belgian waffles) and what they call a 5:30 Kickback, which includes dinner foods and both alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages. Growing up, we always stayed in Drury Hotels on vacation. You’ll love their option on the Riverwalk!
Historic Granbury
If you’re ready to get away from the busyness, then a visit to the charming town of Historic Granbury would be the perfect Mother’s Day weekend getaway. Stay in one of the Granbury Cabins at Windy Ridge for a taste of life in the country at one of their farmhouse-style cabins. Nature lovers will enjoy the privacy of the secluded cabins, hiking trails, and being surrounded by the outdoors. Each cabin includes a private hot tub, a well-stocked kitchen or kitchenette, and a private fire pit.
You won’t have to leave the entire weekend, but if you do want to get out and about, you’re close to Granbury Town Square, where you’ll find entertainment, dining, shopping, and plenty of options for Mother’s Day brunch. Yummo!
You could also opt for an afternoon at the City Beach Park on Lake Granbury for some sunbathing. You don’t have to drive all the way to the Gulf Coast for a beach day in Texas.
Bed in Breakfasts near Fredericksburg Wineries
Celebrate Mother’s Day by wineing and dining the weekend away in Fredericksburg. You can start the day with a gourmet breakfast and then spend the day wine tasting at local vineyards or shopping in the charming downtown Fredericksburg.
For a mother-daughter getaway, you’ll find lots of options for lodging, whether you prefer renting a cottage, or home, or staying at a boutique hotel. We love the Wine Country Cottages on Downtown Main Street. They’re so lovely and right in the middle of shopping and dining.
For luxurious couple’s accommodations, stay at the Baron’s Creek Winery Villa. This upscale winery has two gorgeous villas with 4 master suites and 8 guest suites in total. Children and pets are not allowed, as these villas are designed as lodging for couples.
Small Town Escape in Wimberley
Also situated in the Texas Hill Country, just 45 minutes south of Austin lies a charming small town that has been hailed as one of the best small towns in the US. Wimberley is famous for Jacob’s Well, a fully submerged cave that maintains a temperature of 68 degrees any time of the year. If you’re an outdoor lover with an adventurous side, a dip in Jacob’s Well is a memorable way to spend your Mother’s Day weekend.
May is also the perfect time to visit the Lavender Fields in full bloom. Rough Creek Lavender Farms lets you pick fresh lavender, or you can pick out your own dreamy scented Mother’s Day gift in the farm’s gift shop.
To take in the small-town charm of Wimberley, head to the quaint Wimberley Square for shopping, wine tasting, gallery viewing, and of course some delectable eats.
Wimberley offers many unique accommodations, like the Spoon Mountain Glamping Tents. These aren’t your average tents! Think gorgeous, romantic, luxurious safari tents with incredible views of the Hill Country. If you’re looking for a couple’s Mother’s Day getaway in Wimberley, then absolutely check out this one-of-a-kind overnight accommodation.
Texas Style Night Away
Enjoy the old-time feel of Texas in the Fort Worth Stockyards. The swanky Hotel Drover is such a treat to stay at and perfect for Mother’s Day weekend getaway. Make reservations to dine at the 97 Kitchen West and Bar and enjoy the delicious food. And definitely plan some time to relax in the Backyard around the firepits and the bar, or enjoy the warmer weather at the gorgeous outdoor pool.
While you’re in the Stockyards, visit the local shops, restaurants, and bars on the trendy Mule Alley and listen to all the live country music the Stockyards has to offer. You can visit Billy Bob’s, the “world’s largest honky tonk” and catch one of their concerts on Fridays or Saturdays. And don’t miss the classic Stockyards’ activities, such as the twice-daily cattle drive!
Lake Front Lodging at Lake Travis
Spend Mother’s Day Weekend at one of the most beautiful lakes in Texas about half an hour from Austin. You can find plenty of lakefront lodging options, whether you prefer glamping, renting a private home, or staying at a luxury resort.
Lake Travis offers something for every mom, whether she is looking to spend a relaxing day enjoying the scenery or is looking for an outdoor adventure. From water sports to horseback riding to ziplining, there are plenty of options if you’re looking for different experiences at Lake Travis.

Ultimate Rooftop Pool in Downtown Houston
The largest city in Texas is a great destination for your Mother’s Day Weekend Getaway. And staying at the Marriot Marquis Houston should be on your agenda! This modern high-rise hotel is known for its one-of-a-kind rooftop pool. The Texas-shaped lazy river provides hours of fun for adults and kids. Adults will also love the infinity pool and rooftop bar with tropical drinks and views of downtown Houston.
While in Houston, make plans to visit one of the many world-class museums, art galleries, or theater offerings. You can also treat mom (or yourself) to some shopping at the Galleria. Houston is a great destination for Mother’s Day!
